• 1859, Moved to Chicago, and with his brother who proceeded him here opened a general store in the building known as "Long Row" 4
• Business was destroyed by great fire. 4
• Opened a grocery store in Evenston, sold out in 1872 and returned to Chicago. 4
• Resumed business at 173 Division St. with son until time of death. 4
